Internship Programme is designed mainly for undergraduate or college students to gain real working experience, on job training and exposure to the realities of working environment. Throughout the programme, they will be guided to learn more about their strengths, weakness and interest.

How to apply internship job programme in the easiest way? Do it online. You may apply through online job portals like jobstreet, jobsdb, monster and alternatively via newspaper like The Star, NST and etc.

However, don’t limit yourself by only applying internship jobs that available or advertised in the market. Do put in extra effort by writing in to company that you feel is relevant to your field of study.

Department Statistic of Malaysia shows that Malaysia unemployment rate recorded at 3.5% for end of Year 2009. It was once predicted that the rate might rise to 4.5% by end of year 2009. Malaysian fresh graduate, are you one of them? I hope you are not.

To make sure that you are not one of them and the only solution is to be well prepared. I reckon you need to have good command of English, soft skills like responsibility, time management, leadership, sociability, integrity, transparency, ethics and high moral value. Beside that you also need to have the ability to deal with cruel realities of working life and last be not least the right working attitude.

In fact, there is no course that can prepare you to the workplace. You may take initiative to improve your skills before entering into workplace and understand more on the value needed in the real working world. Below are the tips that you may want to consider?

    Internship: In the whole process you will expose to the “real” working environment.
    Working while being a student: You may choose to work as part time, work in term time or holidays. You may want to explore job that related to your study. It aims to prepare and help you to understand the expectation of future employer on the job.
    Self Improvement: Do attend self improvement classes. It aims to fill in the gaps that you lack off in performing your job in future. You may attend seminar or courses like people skills, time management, leadership, communication skills, resume writing, interviewing skills and etc.

Last but not least, do not feel shy asking question and consult second opinion from your senior, lecturer or some one that already in the job.
